Prayer Circle

“…Krishna is so kind to His devotees that if you go to Him, then the combined kindness of millions of mothers like me will be surpassed by His affectionate and tender dealings. When everyone else fails to mitigate one’s misery, Krishna is able to help the devotee.”
–Suniti speaking, S.B. 4.8.22, Dhruva Maharaja Leaves Home, Purport

As devotees progress on their path towards becoming more Krishna conscious, sometimes obstacles arise in the form of physical or mental distress. This prayer circle is designed to assist our devotees in overcoming such obstacles by the power of prayer. Other efforts in our community may assist devotees by providing prasad, transportation to doctor’s appointments, counseling, etc. However, the sole purpose of this service is to offer prayers to Their Lordships on the devotee’s behalf.

WHAT KIND OF PRAYERS ARE BEST?

Lord Krishna explains that this world is duhkhalayam asasvatam, full of miseries and temporary (Bhagavad-gita 8.15). As such, devotees are not inclined to pray for material benefits that prolong their suffering in this samsara cycle of repeated birth and death; instead, as they pursue the path of Bhakti-yoga, Krishna consciousness, back to Lord Sri Krishna’s abode, devotees pray for Lord Krishna’s mercy, shelter, protection, guidance, acceptance, and for whatever He deems necessary for the ultimate benefit of each of our eternal souls. Devotees pray that they may always be able to think of Krishna, see His guiding hand even in times of difficulty, and increase their loving service to Him and His devotees. And yes, devotees are compassionate and do pray for others who are suffering in this world, from mental or physical illness, anguish or distress, that the Lord may kindly mitigate their suffering, if He so desires, and that He may help you or your loved ones reconnect with Him and find eternal happiness, eternal shelter at His lotus feet.
