New Tent Tops for Our Festival Tents
For 30 years, our festsival tents have served ISKCON Alachua’s major festivals, Sunday feasts, and Ratha-yatras, as well as being the centerpiece of Festival of the Holy Name.
The old tent tops are over 30 years old and are worn out and falling apart. New tent tops will provide shelter for festivals for many years to come.
With many holes and worn-out patches, rain leaks in and drips onto the devotees, musical instruments, and the sound and video equipment. We have spent money in the past to repair the tents, but the vinyl canvas is brittle and could rip in half without warning, and at this point the tents are not worth repairing anymore.
We have priced out new tops at a tent supplier in Tampa, FL. They are made from 16oz sun-blocking flame-retardant vinyl material with reinforced buckle bands and will last at least 20 years.
The total for all 3 tent tops is $19,020.
This would allow us to order new tops for:
- 1 large main 40 x 60 foot tent – used for Festival of the Holy Name’s main tent, Janmastami and other festivals.
- 2 smaller 30 x 45 foot tents – used for the Festival of the Holy Name’s kitchen and prasadam serve-out, and the Festival of the Holy Name’s video and sound setup, and the family/children area in the evening. These tents are also used during Janmastami and other festivals.
Please consider making a generous donation so that the new tent tops can be ordered and ready for this year’s Festival of the Holy Name in November!
